Hopewell Safe Streets

BUILDING SAFER ROADS, STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES.

The City of Hopewell is actively shaping a comprehensive safety action plan focused on reducing fatalities and severe injuries resulting from vehicle crashes involving pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and drivers. Developed through community collaboration, this plan will prioritize roadway and infrastructure improvements to address safety concerns for Hopewell residents, while also paving the way for future safety-focused funding initiatives.

Central to this action plan is a commitment to prioritizing the needs of those most affected by traffic-related incidents, particularly pedestrians, bicyclists, and individuals within historically underserved communities. This approach aims to enhance safety for all road users.

THANK YOU FOR JOINING THE CONVERSATION

Thank you for participating! Our goal is to incorporate community feedback into transportation safety projects, Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) funding applications, and strategy development to curb roadway fatalities and serious injuries.

To achieve this, our outreach team has been actively engaging with the community through various events, including a Community Champion Meeting with local business leaders, two public meetings, and three pop-up events at the Downtown Hopewell Farmer’s Markets and the River & Roads Festival. At each event, we shared information about the project process, answered questions, and collected feedback through surveys and an interactive map exercise.

With all the valuable feedback we received, our team is now developing a comprehensive safety action plan. Thank you again for your participation, and please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns!
